New Balance ‘Excellent Makers’ Series - Osian Batyka-Williams.

As New Balance celebrate 30 years of domestic manufacturing this year and to reinforce the craftsmanship and talent involved in creating New Balance’s Made in the UK shoes the brand launches their Excellent Makers series - a campaign that follows real people pursuing their ‘excellence’.

Representing the first phase of the UK campaign are London based silkscreen artist Kate Gibb and eco designer Osian Batyka-Williams (above). Both create inspiring pieces by hand and helping to show how important craftsmanship and quality are to both creations as shoe manufacturing is to New Balance as a brand.

Great Scott, It’s About Time - Marty McFly ‘MAG’ Sneakers.

The video which appears to have been uploaded by ‘DocEmmettBrown88’ shows a teaser of the Nike Air MAG’s as worn by Marty McFly in Back To The Future II.

A number of exclusive invites went out recently featuring replica Doc Brown shades, an iPod Shuffle with a personal message from the man saying “Welcome to Los Angeles. If my calculations are correct, over the next 24 hours you are about to see some SERIOUS SH*T!

Nike are expected to announce later today whether these are still myth and something of the future or about to become a modern-day reality. Either way, we’re psyched.

The M1500 sneakers first debuted back in the 1980s as high end running shoes following on from the already popular 1300 and 1400 silhouettes and the classics have now returned back in force (although most fans would say they never left) this season with their new ‘Made in England’ options. These were the first New Balance shoe to exceed the £100 mark when they originally released in 1988 during the 80s running trend and in recent times have amassed a whole new demographic of dedicated fans. Fortunately for us they now come in at a slightly more wallet friendly price of £85. Putting their Flimby factory back on the map this Autumn the shoes are available in two colourways, a rich burgundy colour up with a grey mesh apron and finished with black and white accents or in a rich purple colour up with a grey mesh apron and finished with black and white accents. The suede is lovely and soft and they do feel like a quality product, although there are rumours of issues with the finish, they are definitely worth the hype in our opinion.
