Featuring a distinctive mixture of blue, green red, yellow and white hues to represent the Olympic rings found on the events logo, we actually think they look pretty decent.

New Balance ‘Excellent Makers’ Series - Osian Batyka-Williams.
Excellent Makers are not defined by success, wealth, or status, but by a passion for what they do. These craftsmen, athletes, artists, and musicians believe in sharing their authentic, inspired visions with everyone and everything they touch.
As New Balance celebrate 30 years of domestic manufacturing this year and to reinforce the craftsmanship and talent involved in creating New Balance’s Made in the UK shoes the brand launches their Excellent Makers series - a campaign that follows real people pursuing their ‘excellence’.
Representing the first phase of the UK campaign are London based silkscreen artist Kate Gibb and eco designer Osian Batyka-Williams (above). Both create inspiring pieces by hand and helping to show how important craftsmanship and quality are to both creations as shoe manufacturing is to New Balance as a brand.
Keep track of the series via the New Balance Facebook page and follow their tweets at twitter.com/nbclassics

VisitFlimby.com
As New Balance approaches 30 years of manufacturing in Britain, the brand has launched a new website celebrating the small town of Flimby, Cumbria, home to its UK factory, and the talented craftsmen and women of the New Balance manufacturing team.
The website from New Balance called visitflimby.com marks the anniversary of the only athletic footwear manufacturer to produce its shoes in the UK. Featuring some great stories focusing on key characters who work at the factory such as Wayne McCluckie, factory supervisor and keen pigeon racer; Bill Mallinson, warehouse manager who loves exploring the beauty of the Lake District; Roy Bell, Leather cutter who loves nothing more than hitting the dance floor at the end of the day and Mark Heron, who works with theproduction team by day and transforms into a rock musician at night.
The site not only promotes local tourism and commerce but brings to life the process in which fans of the shoe will eventually receive their final product heroing those who craft the trainers we love to wear.

Great Scott, It’s About Time - Marty McFly ‘MAG’ Sneakers.
The video which appears to have been uploaded by ‘DocEmmettBrown88’ shows a teaser of the Nike Air MAG’s as worn by Marty McFly in Back To The Future II.
A number of exclusive invites went out recently featuring replica Doc Brown shades, an iPod Shuffle with a personal message from the man saying “Welcome to Los Angeles. If my calculations are correct, over the next 24 hours you are about to see some SERIOUS SH*T!
Nike are expected to announce later today whether these are still myth and something of the future or about to become a modern-day reality. Either way, we’re psyched.

New Balance M1500 ‘Made In England’.
The M1500 sneakers first debuted back in the 1980s as high end running shoes following on from the already popular 1300 and 1400 silhouettes and the classics have now returned back in force (although most fans would say they never left) this season with their new ‘Made in England’ options.
These were the first New Balance shoe to exceed the £100 mark when they originally released in 1988 during the 80s running trend and in recent times have amassed a whole new demographic of dedicated fans. Fortunately for us they now come in at a slightly more wallet friendly price of £85.
Putting their Flimby factory back on the map this Autumn the shoes are available in two colourways, a rich burgundy colour up with a grey mesh apron and finished with black and white accents or in a rich purple colour up with a grey mesh apron and finished with black and white accents.
The suede is lovely and soft and they do feel like a quality product, although there are rumours of issues with the finish, they are definitely worth the hype in our opinion.
If you’re looking forward to seeing what else New Balance have in store keep checking culture junkie for the latest news.
Available now from www.hanon-shop.com or www.end-clothing.co.uk

Nike Air Max 1 Black//Black.
Check out the new Air Max 1’s due to drop this Autumn.
Featuring a toned, subtle black on black colourway these new kicks include the visible airbag and lightweight engineering that has kept Nike’s status as the icon of the original running Shoe since the first pair launched back in 1987.
Since then the Air Max has seen many re-designs and still looks as fresh as it ever did.
